Pharmacy is defined as that branch of science that deals with the drugs, Mahadeva Lal Schroff is the father of pharmacy education.

Although he was not a trained pharmacist, he gave the idea about pharmaceutical education as well as pharmaceutical industries in India.

Mahadeva Lal Schroff was born on the 6th of March 1902, at Darbhanga in Bihar. He had done his schooling in Bhagalpur and then he joined Engineering College Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for his higher studies.

Prof. M. L. Schroff introduced Pharmaceutical Chemistry as the main subject in the B.S.c. course in 1932 in BHU.

In year 1937, he was introduced in India three-year B. Pharm course at BHU. This was the first and the most advanced creation of Prof M.L. Schroff, which make him the father of Indian pharmaceutical education.
